chocolate chip cranberry scones.

a friend of mine made these and i knew i had to have the recipe.
i've made them twice already.
they are great for breakfast, an afternoon snack or even for dessert.
enjoy!

Robyn Schut's (i have no idea who she is) chocolate chip cranberry (cherry) scones
2 Cups flour
1 TBS baking powder
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 Cup sugar, plus 2-3 TBS
3/4 Cup semi-sweet chocolate chips (I used mini-chips)
1/2 Cup dried cranberries (I used cherry flavored dried cranberries)
1 1/4 Cup whipping cream (I used one 1/2 pint)
3 TBS butter, melted

Mix together flour, baking powder, salt and 1/4 cup sugar in a bow. Mix in choc. chip and cranberries (cherries).

(these are the cherry flavored cranberries i used. really tasty!)

Add cream and mix with fork just until the mixture holds together. The dough will be fairly sticky.

Transfer the dough to a lightly floured surface and sprinkle lightly with flour. Knead the dough 10 times, pushing it away from you with the heel of your hand, folding it back over itself and giving it a quarter-turn each time. Pat into a 9-inch diameter circle. With a sharp knife, cut the dough into 12 wedges.

Place on an ungreased baking sheet, leaving a 1-inch space between the edges. Brush tops with melted butter and sprinkle with 2-3 TBS sugar.

Bake 425 degrees for 15-17 minutes or until tops are golden brown. Serve warm or at room temperature.

let me know if you try them and make sure you have other people to share them with because you will be tempted to eat them all.
