high five for friday: art edition.

for this edition of high five for friday, i'm switching things up. i have been so inspired lately by artists i've discovered online. it is my pleasure to pass on the beauty they create:

flora's art is so stunning. the colors are vibrant. the images are peaceful, but wildly alive. plus she writes secret messages throughout her work, too.

alisa's sense of style accompanies her amazing art. her blog is full of glimpses inside her beautiful sketchbook. she also teaches online courses. check out her wonderful site.

this lady takes art journaling to the next level! i love her use of paint, texture and words. and my favorite part of her site is her videos where she shows her entire process to create an art journal page!

kelly rae has always been one of my favorite artists. i used her planners for two years and every time i opened it up, it was like a breath of fresh air. her art is so unique and inspiring!

one.
sabrina ward harrison.

it is my dream to hang out with sabrina for a day. and paint. and talk. and laugh. i believe it will happen! you can read an entire post dedicated to sabrina here. her books and her art are precious to me.
her motto is: "make what you most need to find."

that's so "erica."

NOrleans1

that's so you.
you say that all the time.
i could so see you in that.

ever heard phrases like that?

well i was inspired by this post to share some of what makes me, "me."
this is a snippet into the wonderful world of erica:

i usually say what's on my mind. (don't have a lot of filters...)

i often wear entire outfits from goodwill. (and feel so great about it :)

i loooove sleep. cat naps, sleeping in without an alarm, dozing off in the car, etc.

i enjoy list making.

i'm a choco-aholic.

i can't keep my clothes organized for anything.

i'm a kid magnet.

i like to travel and go out but i am most certainly a homebody at heart.

i don't enjoy talking on the phone.
(which is kind funny because my hubby has the phone glued to his ear all the time.)

i get physically "nervous" when spending large amounts of money.

i do not enjoy getting dirty. or camping.

i don't like and will not eat steak.

i buy earrings impulsively.

//

so now i'm curious, what makes you "you"?
feel free to share in a post (let me know if you do) or leave a comment with some unique characteristics about Y O U!

must have summer wardrobe staples.

i'm starting to put away my sweaters, vests and boots in anticipation for summer! (it's a great season because it includes my birthday and our anniversary---> 4 years this august! woo hoo!)

thought i would share some of my summer wardrobe must haves:
my summer essentials
black tank // i think 25% of the summer i pair a simple black tank with a skirt, shorts or skinny jeans and dress it up or down depending on accessories.
turquoise accessories // turquoise screams summer to me. it's such a fresh way to add a pop of color. reminds me of the ocean.
head wrap // although i love head wraps in any season, this is a great way to not only look stylish but keep your hair out of her face while profusely sweating outside! (must have for beach or boating days!)
strapless sundress // a sundress, specifically strapless is great for tanning without awkward lines and adorable for daytime or evening!
maxi skirt // maxi skirts are so comfy. although they are long, they are very breathable for summer. check out this post for lots of ways to style them.
gladiator sandals // these sandals are my go to choice for summertime. they are cute, comfy and are a step up from typical flip flops.

//

what are your summer wardrobe staples?

true match.

so does anyone else search google and youtube for reviews before making a new purchase? this is  especially true for me when dealing with cosmetics.

i'd like to introduce you to kandee, my online makeup consultant. her videos are so helpful.

i've been using neutrogena liquid foundation for about a year now and have gotten pretty bored with it. so, i watched this video and took her advice:

i bought W3 for my base and N7 for my darker color. (i was pretty skeptical about getting the second shade, but if you use a small amount and blend well it adds the perfect amount of sunkissed tan glow.)
loreal true match
this makeup blends so well! it's very light feeling and adds the perfect amount of glow without looking too greasy. i haven't tried the powder yet, but that's next on my list!

so there you have it. a professional makeup artist's and my recommendation!

let me know if you try it!
