cornflake breakfast casserole.

growing up, our church used to make dozens of these breakfast casseroles for the newcomer brunches. (i always looked forward to those days. they are SO delicious!) my mom recently gave me the recipe and i've already made it a few times! 

ingredients

7 eggs

4 cups milk

1/4 tsp dry ground mustard

dash of black pepper

dash of worcestershire sauce

12 slices of bread (cubed)

1 lb sausage (or 1 package of bacon-approx 12 slices)

2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese

2 cups corn flakes

1 stick melted butter

directions

beat the eggs and milk. add dry mustard, pepper and worcestershire sauce. brown sausage or cook bacon and drain. grease a 9 x 13 baking dish. layer 6 slices of bread, cubed. top with meat (bacon or sausage) and 1 cup cheese. add 6 more slices of bread (cubed) and remaining shredded cheese. pour egg mixture over. refrigerate overnight. crush the cornflakes and mix with melted butter. sprinkle on top. bake at 350 degrees for 45 minutes. (it will make your entire house smell SO good).

thought i would share a few of my recent must have products. the best thing about all of them is that they are under 15 bucks! (most under $10!)

one // revlon colorstay eyebrow enhancer.
this is the first eyebrow pencil i've ever purchased. i searched for reviews online and followed their advice! i have been very happy with this product. it's more of a wax than a pencil and the highlighter really makes my brows "pop." (it lasts all day too!)


two // elf mineral face primer.
this is a must have product. it makes my skin feel like silk before i apply makeup and i have not had to do any touch ups the whole day since using this! totally worth the $6.

three // bath and body works paris amour body wash.
i actually won a set of the paris amour products at a retreat and have loved this scent! it's light, floral and just the right amount of sweet. if you need some new body spray or wash, check out this new scent from bath and body works!


four // tresemme fresh start dry shampoo.
i've been using this product for about a year now for "second" day hair to freshen up the roots and give me more manageability. i had a brand new revelation though after reading this post. sydney shares that she uses dry shampoo as a styling product (on day 1)! it makes the style last longer for the next few days. mind blown...


five // maybelline lipstick in fifth avenue fuchsia.
after reading this review i headed to walgreens and picked up this lipstick. it's SO pretty on and it wears really nicely. totally spices up your day even if you are wearing minimal makeup!

i've always loved headscarves, but my friend rachel showed me how to wear a silk scarf tied with a bow on top and now i'm mildly obsessed.

i made this crock pot chicken fajita recipe this week. y u m! it's delicious served with rice, tomato, avocado, cheese and sour cream!

lovin my new sandals from target. (and lovin that it's warm enough to wear them!) and they were just $9!

one.

i have to share a wonderful moment that happened last friday. i get my nails done at pleasant nails (corner of 28th street and east beltline for any of you that live in GR. they are amazing!) i was getting my shellac redone on friday and a lady getting a pedicure was really stressed out. she was graduating that day and was running a little bit late. the nail tech asked her if she wanted a full pedicure and she said, "no, just a polish change...money is tight." 

after she got her toes painted, she moved over to get her fingernails done. as i was finishing up, i heard the lady sitting next to her say, "it's on me today. i'm going to pay for you to get a full set. happy graduation." the woman started crying. i got teary eyed. everyone in the salon smiled and congratulated the woman. it was the most wonderful act of kindness. a total stranger reaching out and totally changed the lady's day.

thrifting finds.

i scored some great deals this weekend at goodwill. i was looking specifically for some summer items, tanks or sundresses to wear to our upcoming new orleans trip! here's my haul:

i love the ruffles along the neckline and the gathered waist of this adorable sundress! and, floral is SO in. score!

the colors in this dress just make me happy. it's like wearing a piece of art! (and it's super comfy!)

this top is perfect with a cream cami and bold accessories. if you've been reading my blog for a while, you know i loooove coral. so this top was a no brainer.

isn't the detailing on this dress SO perfect? it's cotton, so very breathable for warm summer days and the intricate detailing on the back dresses it up for a night out!
